EGLS Overview

The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship program for international students. The scholarship is awarded to international students with excellent academic records, who demonstrate leadership and dedication to service in their home countries.

This Undergraduate scholarship is only available for one student who will be selected as an Emerging Global Leader Scholar for the upcoming batch starting from august 2023, the student must be a citizen of a country other than the United States and have been admitted to the University, The student must be enrolled in one Undergraduate Degree.

EGL Scholarship Description

This scholarship is available for only one student and will cover the expenses like Tuition fees, room, and board. Non-billable expenses such as books, health insurance, flight tickets, etc will not be covered under the scholarship ( all these expenses approximately cost you about 4000 USD each year, according to the official scholarship website).

Scholarships will be renewable for up to four years covering all the expenses discussed above and this will also depend on the candidate’s academic performance during the course.

Eligibility For Emerging Global Leader Scholarship

All the candidates who are highly motivated to overcome challenges and are from unrepresented global and socioeconomic backgrounds, meeting the following criteria are eligible for the scholarship.

1. Minimum 3.8 GPA out of 4 during class 9th to 12th ( or in the top 10 % of the graduating class )

2. A student committed to serving people and has shown leadership capabilities.

3. Must have one of the following

• 95+ TOEFL iBT (all subscores must be 20 or above)
• Sub-scores of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (Taken after May 31, 2017)
• 7.0+ IELTS (all subscores must be 6.0 or above)
• 33 minimum SAT Reading subscore
• 29 minimum ACT English
• 65 minimum PTE
• 120+ Duolingo (all subscores must be 110 or above)
• Cambridge Assessment English score of 185 or higher. Each sub-score must be 169 or higher.

4. Students who will Complete secondary education by 2023

5. Students in the International Baccalaureate system must have a Full IB diploma in 3 Higher Leve subjects.

6. Students in the British A-level system must have finished 13 years of study by 2023 with at least 3A levels.

Who are not Eligible 

1. U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, U.S. pending permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country.
2. You are already enrolled or studying in any university in the USA or home country
3. Anyone who has completed secondary education earlier than 2021 is not eligible.

Application Process

The application process includes the following process and remembers that you have to apply for Regular Decisions for All (August) 2023, don’t apply for Early Decision (ED)

1. First, complete the online application form for American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship from the official website.
2. Now submit American University Certification Of Finance as well as a back letter of a minimum of U.S.$4,000 each. ( See more details on the official website or contact officially on [email protected] ).
3. Submit your official result of any of the exams discussed in the eligibility section on point no. 3.
4. Submit Common Application of AU EGLS.
